Who it's for

  • People starting from scratch who want a small, practical service business with low startup costs.
  • One- or two-person operators who want to count small independent shops: convenience and liquor stores, boutiques, smoke and vape shops, gift, pet, bike and book stores.
  • Counters who want change-of-ownership work: neutral counts at closing when a small store is bought or sold.
  • Existing small counting services ready to move from dedicated handhelds to a phone-based count.

Why a small counting business works

Small independent stores still need accurate counts. Their on-hand numbers drift, and most owners don't have the time or the people to fix it themselves.

The startup cost is low: a phone plus a subscription, instead of a closet of dedicated hardware. What you need most is a process and paperwork that make you look like the professional you are. That's what this kit gives you.

Why now

For decades, counting professionally meant buying dedicated handheld terminals and specialized software. Today, small independent counting businesses no longer have a dedicated equipment maker selling to them: a long-time maker of count terminals has announced it is closing and ending parts and service.

ProCount fills the gap. Count on the iPhone you already own, and export files the store can use.

What's inside

Volume 1: Starting your counting business

The opportunity, what the work involves, equipment, business setup basics, finding your first small retail clients, how to build a quote, running your first count step by step, delivering the file and report, and change-of-ownership (transfer) counts for convenience and liquor stores.

Volume 2: The count-day field guide

Setting up ProCount for a store, scanning, Auto-1, 10-key math entry, exports, mapping the CSV to the store's system, and troubleshooting.

Volume 3: The switching guide

For existing small counting services: map your current process to a phone-based count, run a side-by-side test, train a 1–2 person team, and explain the change to your clients.

Volume 4: The templates pack

Editable Word and Excel files you can make your own:

  • Price sheet and service agreement
  • Cold email, walk-in script and objection scripts, including how to answer “my employees will do it”
  • Flyer and invoice
  • Count-day checklist, store prep sheet and section map worksheet
  • Transfer count summary and sign-off, plus a spreadsheet for applying the prices both parties agree on

Free bonus

The Liquor License Lead Finder

How to find stores changing hands, with public lead sources for California and other states. Includes a step-by-step California walkthrough, outreach scripts, and a lead-source spreadsheet.

Made to read on a phone

All four volumes come in one PDF laid out for small screens, so you can check a step in the back room on count day. You also get an editable Word copy.

Plus free count-day videos on our YouTube and TikTok, free for everyone and not part of the kit.

How it works with ProCount

The kit teaches the workflow with ProCount, the iPhone inventory app built by professional inventory counters:

  • Barcode and QR scanning with a simple toggle
  • Auto-1 rapid counting for shelves of singles
  • A 10-key with math entry: type 12×12+6 and ProCount saves 150
  • Excel export with timestamps, so the owner sees what was counted and when
  • CSV export that combines like SKUs into one line

Every point-of-sale system imports inventory a little differently. ProCount lets you export a CSV you map to the store's point-of-sale system, and the kit shows you how.

The app is separate

The ProCount app is a separate download from the App Store with its own subscription. It isn't included in the kit.

ProCount is free to download. ProCount Pro is $9.99/month after a 7-day free trial. iPhone only, iOS 16.4 or later.

Counter's Kit FAQs

Is the ProCount app included?

No. The ProCount app is a separate download from the App Store with its own subscription. It's free to download, and ProCount Pro is $9.99/month after a 7-day free trial, billed by Apple. The kit teaches you how to use it, but doesn't include the app or a subscription.

Do I need experience?

No. Volume 1 starts from the beginning: what a count involves, how to set up, how to find and quote your first stores, and how to run count day step by step. If you already run a counting service, the switching guide is written for you.

Which POS systems does it work with?

ProCount doesn't connect directly to POS systems. You export a CSV you map to the store's point-of-sale system. Every system imports a little differently, so the kit walks through how to check what the store's system expects before you count, and how to map the file.

Can I make money with this?

We can't tell you that, and we make no earnings claims. Results depend on your effort, market and pricing. Many new businesses don't make money. The kit gives you education and templates; it doesn't provide customers or income. The bonus Lead Finder shows you where public license records are published; it isn't a list of customers.

Is this a franchise or a job?

No. It's a set of guides and templates. You run your own business, set your own prices and find your own clients.

How do I get the kit?

It's a digital download, and checkout is handled securely by Square. After you pay, you're taken straight to the download page for the kit: one PDF with all four guide volumes, an editable Word copy, the editable templates, and the bonus lead-source spreadsheet. Save the files to your phone or computer right away. If the download page doesn't open, email us at apps@procountusa.com and we'll send you the link.

What's your refund policy?

If the kit isn't right for you, email apps@procountusa.com within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund you in full. No hoops.
